Spring& Summer Hats

In the past few years I have started to like hats more. The main reason being my mom loves hats. After watching a couple movies from the 50’s and 60’s I realized how cute hats can be.

The hats below are a mix of casual and fancy.

Black and white will always be a classic. $29 from Nordstrom.

This hat is a good neutral color for spring and summer, $38 from Nordstrom.

A simple fedora can transition from one season to the next, $15 from Forever 21.

This is the perfect hat for a sporty girl on the go, $26 from Nordstrom.

This hat has an open enough weave that it will stay cool in spring& summer, $18 from Nordstrom.

Hats are a fun accessory that make a girl stand out in a crowd.

Summer Is Almost Here

Okay so summer is 5 months away still, but that isn’t very long. I think to think about summer this time of year because this is when I start to get overwhelmed with all the cold gray weather of Oregon.

I was looking at fashiongonerogue.com and found a bunch of campaign ads for spring 2011. They inspired me to do a post about the upcoming warm weather and drastic wardrobe change. Its never to early to start thinking about your dream summer wardrobe.

Here are some highlights from the D&G 2011 Spring/Summer Campaign.

These are my favorites from Stefanel Spring 2011

This picture above is the first one I saw and made me think “Yay summer is almost here!”

Amazing as always is Michael Kors Spring 2011

The next time it is raining you can look at these pictures and remind yourself, shorts weather is 5 months away (maybe 6 in Oregon). Enjoy the pictures. I hope they inspire some new summer wardrobe purchases.

3D Acrylic Nail Art

3D nail art is not something most people have in their day to day life. Unless of course you live in Japan, China, or England. My friend and I found awesome pictures and decided to get our nails done like this.

We are doing it in Las Vegas when we go for her 21st birthday.

This picture started it all. Funny thing is after all my research this is still one of my 2 favorites( there was a tie).

I wanted to share these pictures because I think it is amazing artwork to do in such a small space.

This is the other one that tied for m favorite.

These reminded me of the Lolita girls in Japan. I love the color.

These remind me of a disco. I love all the glitter.

I would totally rock these at New Years.

I will always be a sucker for red nails. i think they are classic and beautiful.

If you like these pictures check out this woman’s blog. Its amazing.

This picture is not from her site, but I thought these were pretty crazy. This picture is dedicated to my friend Jill.

As a warning if you do like these nails, it is expensive to do. But there are some things you only do once in life, purely for the experience.

New Year- New Start

I like to make general new years resolutions each year, like get better grades. I read that if you make specific goals that involves dates or numbers, you are more likely to accomplish them. So this year I made 2 specific goals. The first one is to lose 15 pounds by the end of the year, and the first ten pound by June. But weight loss is not as fun to talk about as my other resolution.

My second resolution was, for the month of January I cannot wear hoodies to school.

This is a big deal for me because I love to be comfortable, so when in a rush on my way to school I would just throw on a hooded sweatshirt. I want to dress more like a professional adult since I will be graduating and start a career in less than 18 months. I decided the best first step would be not wearing sweatshirts to school. This makes a big visual difference, and it has actually made me fell better about my appearance.

There is only one full school week in January. So far I have stuck to my resolution. Below are some pictures of outfits I wore. I would have taken more pictures, but its hard to remember that before heading out to school.

This was before going to a friend’s 21st birthday party. I love this sweater because I got it for $15 at JC Penny.

This was what I wore the first day of Winter term 2011. The shirt was $35 from Nordstrom Rack.

The boots in both these pictures are from DSW. I bought them at the end of the summer for $60. I got the jeans from JC Penny for $20, they were 50% off.

Beauty Product Favorites

There is a long process of getting ready for most women. Skin and hair care products are an important part of this getting ready process. I used to be very into make-up and skin care. I’m not as into make up now but I still take very good care of my skin. The beauty products below are some of the best my friends and I have found over the years.

This is the best moisturizer you will ever find. I have very dry skin and this stuff keeps my skin moisturized and soft all day. There are many different fragrances available, some are meant for dry skin and some are meant for people with oily skin.

The Body Shop’s body butters come in 3 sizes now: min $8, regular $20, and large $30.

BEST and most useful hair care product ever. Price about $16

One bottle lasted me almost 8 months, even with my super long hair.

Many of my friends use this. I became addicted last summer when my hair dresser sprayed this in my hair before blow drying it. My hair felt so soft and healthy. This product does 10 wonderful thing including detangling and protecting hair from heat. I very rarely style my hair so I don’t have heat issues, but this product still worked wonders for my hair.

This shine spray is amazing. You can find it at Nordstrom Rack for $14. This shine spray can add as little or as much shine as you want. It doesn’t make your hair heavy or sticky.

Rose Salve from Bath& Body Works $5.

One of the better lip products I have ever found. That is saying something because I buy on average 3 new lip products every month. This stuff smells faintly of roses. It is also multi purpose, it can be used on lips, cuticles, elbows, face, pretty much anywhere your skin gets dry.

The mini hand sanitizers from Bath& Body Works smell amazing. I never used hand sanitizer before I found this stuff cause I hate the alcohol smell. The sanitizers smell just like all the other products with the same scent.

You can also buy a little gel holder to attach to things, like your keychain or car review mirror.

This is the newest fragrance I bought. The mini size is $8 from Bath& Body Works. These body sprays make a great “alternate scent”. I always have my stand by perfume and an “alternate scent”. This is to make sure my nose doesn’t get too used to my perfume.

I love The Body Shop and Bath& Body works (if you couldn’t already tell). The next time you are in need of a new lotion or fragrance try  one of those stores.
